Join us and Aaron Wood for a 2 day course, Saturday and Sunday May 18-19 in the art of traditional Adirondack Pack Basket making! Learn the ins and outs of how to weave ash splints and make your very own pack basket to take home. Please note that the basket making materials are not included in the program price. They are an additional $150 due the day of the event.
Aaron Wood is an Abenaki basket maker. The 25th apprentice of master Abenaki basket-maker Jeanne Brink, he has been weaving Black Ash and Sweetgrass Baskets for more than 5 years. He is a member of the Vermont Abenaki Artist Association, and his baskets are in private collections across New England and Canada. Aaron harvests black ash and processes his splint by hand. He demonstrates this traditional skill at Saratoga and other Native American festivals and powwows throughout the Northeast
