Through a combination of lecture and plenty of hands-on activities, including role-playing wilderness accident scenarios, participants will learn how to deal with variety of injuries and potentially life threatening situations in a wilderness setting. Spend a full-day in the woods with Ndakinna Director James Bruchac learning basic to advanced emergency wilderness skills and survival techniques. Following an hour long animal tracking overview in the morning, participants will spend the rest of the day in the woods. Participants will be on and off-trail, learning primitive and modern land navigation, field identification of tracks, shelter construction, finding water, wilderness firemaking, natural insulation, rescue signaling and more. This is a class that anyone who spends time in the outdoors shouldn’t miss. Could you make it without your GPS? Take this class and you can!

Join us for a Family Wilderness Adventure! Led by Ndakinna Director James Bruchac, family participants will take part in a variety of wilderness skills. From shelter building to animal tracking, elements on our new Ropes Challenge course and a variety of Native American games, this is sure to be an afternoon of fun for the whole family. Three days of outdoor fun including wilderness skills, animal tracking, Native American games, storytelling and daily visits to our adventure challenge course. Taking place at the Ndakinna Education Center with miles of nature trails, Native American wigwams, and other educational exhibits. The camp will also feature special off site field trips. In case of bad weather programming will take place inside our Education center with 3,200 square feet of teaching space. There will be rockwall climbing offered during Session Two. Bring a bag lunch and dress for the outdoors. 5% discount for more than one family member per session.

Also included in sessions 1 and 3 is a full-day of flatwater kayaking. The camp will also feature special off site field trips throughout all sessions. In case of bad weather programming will take place inside our Education center. Session 2, and 3 include a wealth of new skills, stories, and activities. Session 2 includes rockwall climbing.
